"Orange Tree" - proposed design

"Orange Tree" - proposed design by local artist Hannah Griffiths

Creating a mosaic as part of the community garden project has long been a hope.  Thanks to Haringey Council's making the Difference funding, we have now raised enough money and support to make it possible and want to get started.

With the support of the local community, local artist Hannah Griffiths, Heartlands High School’s Year 8 students have been busy designing and planning the mosaic. Themed around ‘the tree of life’ with local references, it will be ready to install in the Spring and should be truly outstanding.

If you would like to find out more or have any questions, please email mosaic@pmra.co.uk. We are planning a meeting with the artist and art teacher in the near future.

When complete, the mosaic will be the highlight of the environmental improvements at the north end of Hornsey Park Road (the northern gateway to our area) which have seen the arrival of the new diagonal zebra crossing and ‘block’ pavings, new trees and planters, pavement build-outs and the de cluttering of the street.

It compliments our work at the southern end of the road – the lavender garden and green space next to Hornsey Park Surgery.

Let us know if you have any ideas for what the Community Garden project could do next or nearer to where you live. We are particularly interested in improving the area at the north (High Road) end of Alexandra Road. mean time, you can find out more by clicking the Community Garden tab at the top of the PMRA Home Page.
