New bench installed in community garden Hornsey ParkWhat is a community garden without the opportunity to put the shopping down and to sit down for a rest?

We have been waiting patiently for the centrepiece of Hornsey Park's new horticultural front room for a few weeks, but the big moment has finally arrived. And we can reveal that the wait has been worth it.

The addition of the 250kg bench, ordered all the way from Italy, became possible following an offer of help from Heartland High School headteacher Simon Garrill and Willmott Dixon, contractor for the nearby new Heartland High School, who built a foundation and placed it in position.

Hornsey Park Community gardenThe support of Nick Jude and his colleagues at Willmott Dixon and Simon Garrill have been invaluable in creating this part of the garden. The bench was chosen for its sculptural quality and is a 'first' in the area.

With the Italian bench and the olive trees the mediterranean theme is almost complete.
